Find your tribe abroad in Oorsee

As any South African expat knows, creating a life abroad is a challenging, often exhilarating journey. This insightful series stars Actress Charlenè Brouwer (Dis ek, Anna) and her husband, film producer Niel van Deventer along with co-presenter Gerrie de Haas as they try to find the answers to questions like “Are you still a South African at heart, if you leave your home for colder, wetter countries? “Does the longing for home ever pass?”

Straight talking across seven continents

In order to get to the bottom of what has made over 102,793 South Africans leave the country over the past 10 years, they travel seven European countries where they meet a wide variety of expats from all walks of life including rugby players, journalists and musicians.  Travelling from England to Ireland, Belgium, The Netherlands, France, Austria and the Czech Republic they meet up with South African expats and in honest, down-to-earth conversations they discover how they survive the cold winters and learn about their successes. They explore the cities the expats have settled in and find out whether they feel they ‘made the right move’
