2019 is just around the corner and it promises to be an interesting and exciting year if you have a look at some of the trends that are being predicted for the year ahead. Make sure you’re informed and not left behind as these trends hit the catwalk and life in general.

Lifestyle trends 2019

It’s all about the eyebrows

In 2018 eyebrow blading made big news as everyone from celebrities to the person on the street headed off to have their eyebrows made fuller and more defined with a small handheld tool made of several tiny needles, which is used to add permanent pigment to the eyebrow. The result is the big bushy over-the-top eyebrow seen on many Instagram ‘pics’ in 2018. In 2019, the reverse looks like it might just happen.

The new trend for eyebrows appears to be bleaching the natural colour out of the brows and lightening them a few shades, so more emphasis is placed on the eyes. People are even dying their bleached eyebrows a rainbow of colours and decorating them with tiny jewels!

Let your internal gladiator out

The gladiator sandal is all set to make a comeback in 2019. These sandals haven’t been mainstream since early 2000, but with the new bohemian clothing styles, the gladiator sandal is back in full force and has already been seen on the Spring/Summer 2018 catwalks for major designer brands like Valentino and Dolce and Gabbana.

Make the most of mindful exercise

Instead of mindlessly ‘going for the burn’, the exercise trend for 2019 is paying careful attention to your body’s needs and its limits. Our bodies are precious, and we need to look after them. Instead of joint-jolting exercises, 2019 will be about low-intensity interval training and group classes where there is an emphasis on connection and community.

Plant-based skincare

2019 is about going back to our roots. Plant-based lifestyles are branching out into plant-based skincare regimes, which focus on beauty products for the face manufactured from fruit and green plants. This regime is far more gentle and extremely animal-friendly, making it a great trend to embrace in 2019!

De-clutter and open up your space

The 1980s were about abundantly acquiring things. Now almost 40 years on, we are de-cluttering our space with ‘purpose’. This is about more than just cleaning your home and getting rid of your junk. Instead it’s an entire lifestyle approach where we de-clutter every aspect of our lives from our relationships to even our work. Instead of dealing with debris, we are instead focusing on the minutia – the things that are really important to us in 2019!

A green approach to travel

Instead of adding to air pollution and rising temperatures, the travel approach in 2019 is more environmentally friendly – from sharing lifts to work, to choosing to go away on local holidays where your only form of transport is your bicycle. Travellers will also focus on supporting local crafts and farmers and avoid imported goods and wasteful materials.

Take a vacation every day

Another unusual fashion trend in 2019, will be introducing vacation wear into every day. The vacation vibe is here, and the designers are working swimwear into everyday clothes – over dresses, under wraps. Just slip your bikini top on with your skirt and you’re good to go!

Adding AI to life

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly becoming part of daily life and 2019 will see it progress even further as people start to use AI to automate functions previously performed by humans. From driving cars to telling you what groceries you need to stock up on, AI will become part of your life in 2019!
