We’re back for another instalment of your Friday shopping feature, and this week we’re taking a trip to the east. We’re off to Hong Kong to take a pitstop at a favourite South African shop – The Biltong Chief.

Yes, yes, our friends in Hong Kong, we have not forgotten you! Although most South African emigrants live in Australia, New Zealand, UK, Canada and the USA – we know there are loads of expats scattered throughout the world who are also waiting for a bit of rainbow love – in particular a bit of biltong abroad.

So here you go! A balm for the homesickness.

Shop of the week: The Biltong Chief

The Biltong Chief opened its doors just a little over a year ago (August 2015), but The Chief has a 20-year partnership with a family-run butchery which has been making the most delicious biltong since 1968.

The Chief saw a great need for this delectable South African treat in Hong Kong, and decided to give the people what they want – high quality biltong products. Cattle used for meat is grass-fed and the meat is air-dried, the way it should be. As a small operation, the Biltong Chief believes they can trump other providers through special love and care for each and every piece of biltong.

The Chief has purportedly ‘opened his kraal’ – offering other South African products as well.

Orders received by 18:00 will be delivered within 2 days, subject to availability. They have three delivery time-slots – 09:00 – 13:00, 13:00 – 17:00 and 17:00 – 19:00 – and your delivery will depend on your location in Hong Kong. There are a few territories which the Biltong Chief does not yet deliver to – you can see which areas they cover on their delivery page.
