Although the South African economy fills most of us with some apprehension, good news is that the international film industry has spent R15.2 billion in South Africa since the introduction of the Department of Trade and Industry’s film incentive programme in 2004.

In addition to the financial benefits, almost all crew – including extras – for the films and series shot on location in South Africa are South African. ABC and Walt Disney Company SA executives say that 99% of the film crew for features filmed in South Africa are from South Africa.
