While we cannot predict what Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan’s 27 February 2013 Budget Speech may hold for South Africans living abroad who hold investments and retirement funds back home…we can imagine people’s concerns.

No doubt the most common questions will focus on security, taxes and transfers of one’s living annuities, preservation funds, retirement annuities, inheritances, dividend income as well as future pension fund reform. That much we know – but as we’re not in the business to speculate we cannot afford to offer insights at this point in time.

The Budget Speech is an all-encompassing outlook; in most part it won’t effect our international South African clients. To answer the above and other questions, we’ll publish a paper interpreting relevant and potential affects on financial investments and futures of our clients’ and other South Africans living abroad.
