  • 1 package of boerewors, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 large onions, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1 ½ cup warm water (plus more as needed)

What to do:

  1. Preheat your Dutch oven or cast iron pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the olive oil and Boerewors sausage to the hot pan. Cook the sausage, stirring occasionally, until it turns a golden brown color.
  3. Add in the diced onions, garlic, oregano, paprika, salt and black pepper. Stir to combine and cook for 3-5 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Create a mixture of dry ingredients, combining the flower and baking powder. Slowly add in the warm water while stirring with a wooden spoon or whisk until you have a thick batter. Add more water as necessary until you achieve the desired texture.
