Shop of the Week – The South African Shop, New Zealand

There’s no denying it, New Zealand is one of the favourite South African expat hubs. And with so many safas moving to these distant shores, it’s imperative that Kiwi valley be infused with some SA flavour,  which is exactly what the South African Shop in Howick, East Auckland, has done.

But those who are further than driving distance from the shop can simply check in online for home delivery wherever you are.

About The South African Shop

Owned by Kim and Callie le Roux, The South African Shop can easily be spotted as it waves the South African flag proudly out on Wellington Street.

The physical shop has two levels, with meat and liquor products stocked on the first storey and all other products kept on the ground floor. They make their own boerewors and biltong and are eager to give all visitors some cooking advice and recipes.

Although The African Shop stocks mainly foodstuffs, you’ll be happy to know that they have your favourite South African personal care and cleaning products as well. Drop in for a pack of Simba Chips or a chat about your home town.
