Reasons why you should attend the best festivals in the world

festivals-around-the-world

Festivals are wonderful occasions when you can break away from your daily life and go and immerse yourself in your favourite activity – whether it is food, music or poetry. It’s a time when you can explore new interests, meet new people and open up new avenues in your life. The best festivals in the world are designed to attract people from all walks in life and to help you find your favourite festivals, we have put together a world festival calendar for the month of June and upcoming ones for the rest of 2019.

The best festivals in June

2-30 June: The Guernsey Floral Festival, Channel Islands
Come and experience the beauty of the Guernsey Islands at this magnificent festival, which celebrates the horticultural beauty of the island. Private gardens open their gates to visitors for tours and you can even walk to Lihou Island at low tide. For something even sweeter, try the sweet fruit liqueurs at the Guernsey Haut Maison Orchard.
12-16 June: Midnight Sun Film Festival, Finland
If you love the movies then head almost hundred miles north of the Arctic Circle to the Midnight Sun Film Festival where you can enjoy five days (and nights) celebrating everything new in the world of cinema. You’ll view recent festival hits, box office classics and even some silent movies. If you are feeling sleepy in the land of endless daylight, refreshing saunas will wake you up and get you ready for the next movie marathon.
13-16 June: Art Basel, Switzerland
This festival is a visual extravaganza and celebrates the world’s best contemporary artists. Visitors are treated to the work of more than 4000 artists in one of the most visually beautiful and pristine countries in the world.
21-23 June: Secret Solstice, Iceland
This festival is truly unique and set in the brightest time of the year. Visitors to the festival dance the days away in the midnight sun to music that features both international and local Icelandic artists. Martin Garrix is set to headline this year’s Secret Solstice along with Rita Ora, Morcheeba and more. While you are here, you can tour Iceland’s beautiful scenery and unique culture.
26-30 June: Glastonbury Festival, UK
This music festival is world-famous and draws music lovers from all over the globe. Come and brave the rain (and the famous mud) to experience the world’s biggest festival, which has reached the size of a city! Enjoy the music, bring a pair of wellies and a good sense of humour!
30 June – 22 July: Paris Jazz Festival, France
After listening to all the contemporary music your heart desires, head over to Paris to experience the rich melodies of jazz in the city’s beautiful Parc Floral. You will experience the big names in jazz, together with some emerging new talent.
